Czech Heritage Runs Deep in Texas

The Lone Star State is Home to the Largest Concentration of Czech-Americans in the US

By [Your Name]

As of the 2020 United States census, there are 193,058 Czech-Americans living in Texas — the largest number of any state. While there are Czechs throughout Texas and isolated Czech communities in South and West Texas, the concentration of Czech settlements is in the Central Texas counties of Austin, Fayette, Lavaca, and Washington.

Fayette County, in particular, has a rich Czech heritage. Today, Texas hosts the largest Czech American population in the US. Czech heritage is still evident today with the infamous Painted Churches, traditional kolaches, and the annual Czech Heritage Festival in West.

The first group of Czech families arrived in Galveston in 1852. They were seeking a new life in the United States and found it in Texas.
